Aidan Broadbridge

Musician

Classically trained at Trinity College of Music in London, raised in the folk music and dance world, Aidan has created a style all of his own. From beginning to end his energetic performances allow his vibrant personality to shine through.

Solo

Aidan's solo career has led him to play in numerous orchestras and musical productions throughout the UK. In the US he is well known for his driving fiddle style and has been the international guest at many festivals and folk weeks. Aidan has performed as violinist for BBC Top of the Pops and is featured solo violinist for the motion pictures "Pride & Prejudice" and "Becoming Jane".

Duets / Groups

Aidan began playing with accomplished pianist, Brian Prentice when they were both teenagers. They perform together now under the name A & B. The pair have a remarkable, almost telepathic, connection when playing and are well recognised in the English Dance world for their dynamic technique and amazing ability to extemporize.

When Aidan and Brian are joined by Nicolas Broadbridge on accordion, they form the English and Ceilidh dance band The Assembly Players. Since 1994, the group has performed all around the UK, as well as in Holland and the US. The trio has recorded 15 English Dance tunes which are well-known all around the world.

For the past nine years, Aidan has been accompanied by pianist Louisa Ridgway. Aidan and Louisa have impressed audiences from the dance floor to the concert hall. Their energetic performances for English, Scottish and Contra dancing create an atmosphere unlike any other duo. Aidan and Louisa's classical training shines through in their playing - as does their sense of humour!
